🕵️ What Happened?
📅 Breach date: November 9
🔍 Attack targeted Mixpanel’s analytics systems used on OpenAI’s API interface
📝 Exposed data included names, emails, locations, and device details
🛡️ Who Was Affected?
💬 ChatGPT & other product users were not impacted
🔐 No chat history, API content, credentials, or payment details leaked
❌ OpenAI has removed Mixpanel and is notifying affected API users
⚠️ What’s the Real Risk?
Not account takeover — but phishing.
Attackers may try using leaked emails to impersonate OpenAI or trick users into sharing sensitive info.
🌍 Why It Matters
The breach shows how third-party tools can introduce vulnerabilities, even when a company’s core security is strong.
A reminder that the weakest link isn’t always the system — sometimes it’s the partner.

🌏 China Seizes the Lead in Global Open-Source AI
A new MIT x Hugging Face study just revealed a major power shift in global AI: Chinese developers have officially surpassed the U.S. in the open AI model market.
The balance of power has flipped — and faster than anyone expected.

📊 Key Findings from the Study
📥 China now leads global downloads with 17.1% market share, overtaking the U.S. at 15.8%
🚀 Growth driven by DeepSeek and Alibaba’s Qwen, holding 14.2% alone (Aug 2024–Aug 2025)
🇺🇸 Once-dominant Google, Meta & OpenAI — previously 40%+ before 2023 — are now absent from the top ranks
🧠 Comfy leads the U.S. side at just 5.4%
🔓 True open source is shrinking — models revealing training data dropped from 79.3% (2022) to 39% (2025)
🌍 Why It Matters
This is more than a ranking shift — it’s a changing of the guard.
For years, Google and U.S. labs defined the open AI ecosystem.
Today, Chinese labs are the new engine powering the open-source AI economy, and the momentum is accelerating — with more releases expected soon from DeepSeek and others.
The global AI race just entered a new phase — and America is no longer holding the lead.

ChatGPT can tailor ads based on conversation history, prompts, and user behavior. Leaked references in the ChatGPT Android beta reveal features like a “search ads carousel” and “bazaar content,” similar to Google Search. Ads will likely start in the search function but could expand. With 800 million weekly users sending 2.5 billion prompts per day, the revenue potential is huge.
A new MIT study says AI is already capable of replacing about 11.7% of U.S. jobs, covering roughly $1.2 trillion in wages. Researchers analyzed 151 million workers and found high exposure not only in tech but also in HR, finance, logistics and admin roles. Other reports echo the trend: McKinsey estimates AI could automate 57% of U.S. work hours, and Microsoft flagged jobs like sales reps, writers and translators as highly exposed.
Google is now selling its TPUv7 chips to outside customers after years of keeping them internal, and Anthropic plans to buy more than one million units. Other buyers include Meta, SSI, xAI, and possibly OpenAI. Early analysis shows TPU systems can cut training and inference costs by 30 to 60 percent compared to Nvidia’s newest GPUs, mainly due to lower chip prices and more efficient designs.
