MICROSOFT

🔬 Microsoft’s New AI Turns Tissue Slides Into Cancer Maps

Cancer research just got a major power-up.
Microsoft open-sourced GigaTIME, an AI model that can turn a cheap $10 tissue slide into thousands of dollars worth of tumor insights — the kind that used to take days of lab work and expensive imaging.

🧠 How GigaTIME Works

  • 🧫 Trained on 40 million cell samples from Providence Health

  • 🔍 Matches simple tissue slides with deep immune system scans

  • 🧪 Tested on 14,000+ cancer patients, generating a 300K-image virtual tumor library across 24 cancer types

📈 What It Discovered

  • 🔬 Identified 1,200+ immune-tumor patterns

  • 📊 Linked immune activity to cancer stage, progression, and survival

  • 🧭 Built a “virtual population” researchers can probe instantly — no costly lab steps needed

🌍 Why It Matters

AI is unlocking insights that once required specialized labs, high-cost equipment, and days of processing.
GigaTIME pushes cancer research into a new era where population-scale analysis becomes fast, cheap, and clinically useful — potentially influencing diagnosis and treatment in real time.

🕶️ Google Is Stepping Into AI Glasses — And It’s Coming in 2026

Google is gearing up for a comeback in wearables.
The company just revealed plans to launch AI-powered smart glasses in 2026, teaming up with Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster to challenge Meta’s early lead in the AI eyewear race.

👀 What Google Is Building

  • 🎧 Audio-only frames for hands-free AI replies, summaries, and assistance

  • 🖥️ Display-style glasses with in-lens screens for maps, translations, and on-the-go info

  • 🤝 Major partners: Samsung, Warby Parker (backed by a $150M deal), and style powerhouse Gentle Monster

📱 Under the Hood

  • The glasses won’t do the heavy lifting themselves

  • Instead, they’ll offload processing to your smartphone, keeping them light, slim, and indistinguishable from everyday eyewear

🌍 Why This Matters

Meta may have the early hype with Ray-Ban AI glasses, but Google is bringing:

  • Stronger models (Gemini infusion)

  • 📱 A massive app ecosystem

  • 🛠️ Stronger global partnerships

This might be the first serious threat to Meta’s dominance in AI wearables.

Trending Today
  • OpenAI’s first report on business usage reveals a massive divide in how companies use AI. Data from over one million business accounts shows that while casual users might send a few messages, "frontier" workers are saving more than 10 hours a week by using advanced features like data analysis. Seventy-five percent of users say AI lets them handle tasks they couldn't do before.

  • OpenAI claims big enterprise win days following internal ‘code red.’ According to its 2025 Enterprise Report, usage has grown eightfold since late 2024, with organizations consuming 320 times more reasoning tokens for analytics, coding, and research. Custom GPTs now handle 20 percent of enterprise traffic, with major clients like BBVA running thousands of task-specific agents.

  • The Pentagon is bringing generative AI to the workforce with a new platform built on Google’s Gemini. It’s part of a $200 million deal to help military staff with unclassified tasks like research, formatting documents, and analyzing data. The tool runs on a secure system called GenAI.mil, and importantly, the military says its usage won’t be used to train Google’s public models.

  • Meta started 2025 betting big on open source, but it looks like that strategy is shifting. After facing internal setbacks and lower-than-expected interest from developers, the company is pivoting to a proprietary model codenamed "Avocado," expected in early 2026. Mark Zuckerberg is aggressively hiring top talent to right the ship, bringing in leaders from Scale AI and GitHub.
