Oh boy, Google's got itself in another pickle with their fancy AI!

They just rolled out these new "AI Overviews" to give quick answer summaries at the top of search results.

Seemed like a nifty idea, right? Well, not so much.

These AI assistants have been spitting out some real whoppers! Like telling people to top their pizza with glue. Or snacking on rocks for a crunchy treat. I'm not making this up, folks!

Google says most of the overviews are fine, but enough went haywire that people are sharing the bizarre responses all over the internet.
The poor tech giants are scrambling to disable the silliest summaries.

Maybe it's time for Google's AI to take a little summer vacation?
Some beach time could do those chatbots some good before they really go off the deep end!

TL;DR: Elon Musk's xAI is planning a supercomputer, called a 'gigafactory of compute,' with 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to advance the Grok AI chatbot. Set to be operational by Fall 2025 and potentially in partnership with Oracle, it will be at least four times larger than the current biggest AI clusters. Currently, Grok 2.0 is being trained on 20,000 GPUs. Meanwhile, OpenAI and Microsoft have discussed an even larger 'Stargate' cluster.

OpenAI's non-disparagement agreements for ex-employees have come under scrutiny. Former employees, like Gretchen Kruger and Jacob Hilton, criticized the lack of transparency and ethical concerns. CEO Sam Altman claimed ignorance of the clauses despite approving them. Hilton notes that OpenAI is reconsidering these clauses to better align with their mission of benefiting humanity.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella opposes the term "artificial intelligence," believing it anthropomorphizes the technology and prefers "different intelligence." This contrasts with OpenAI's showcase of its GPT-4o model's human-like qualities, which drew criticism, including issues with voice similarities to actress Scarlett Johansson. Nadella emphasizes that AI's capabilities are not comparable to human intelligence and regrets the term "artificial intelligence."
